Former Manchester City player Oleksandr Zinchenko recently offered high praise for his former teammate, Kevin De Bruyne, calling him a “masterclass” footballer. Zinchenko, who recently joined Arsenal in a deal worth £32m, played alongside De Bruyne for City and has nothing but admiration for the Belgian midfielder.
Zinchenko’s description of De Bruyne came in a one-word challenge video published on The Athletic’s Tik Tok channel. The Ukrainian used the word “masterclass” to describe De Bruyne, reflecting his high regard for the midfielder’s skills and abilities on the pitch. During their time together at City, Zinchenko and De Bruyne played a total of 82 games together, showcasing their chemistry and synergy as teammates.
De Bruyne, who was signed by City in 2015 for £55m, has been a prolific contributor for the club. With 97 goals and 155 assists in 360 appearances, the 30-year-old has been instrumental in City’s success over the years. He currently holds the joint-third-highest total of assists in the Premier League era, alongside Wayne Rooney, further cementing his status as a top-tier player.
In a recent FA Cup clash against Newcastle United, De Bruyne once again demonstrated his impact, coming off the bench to score and provide the assist for City’s winning goal in a 3-2 victory. His ability to deliver performances that turn the tide in City’s favor has consistently impressed fans and former teammates like Zinchenko.
Zinchenko’s admiration for De Bruyne underscores the midfielder’s influential role both on and off the pitch. As De Bruyne continues to recover from injury and make crucial goal contributions, City stands to benefit from his exceptional skill and impact. His consistent performances have positioned him as a key player for the team, and his contributions will be pivotal as City aims for further success in the remainder of the season.
