Real Madrid and Manchester City are both vying for the signing of Brazilian full-back Yan Couto this summer, according to a recent report.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Girona and has impressed with his performances, earning his first senior cap for the Brazilian national team.
With Manchester City looking to revamp their squad and Yan Couto’s loan deal coming to an end, the door may open for him to join Pep Guardiola’s side as a replacement for the aging Kyle Walker.
However, Real Madrid are also interested in signing Couto on a permanent basis in the upcoming summer transfer market.
While there is speculation about Real Madrid’s interest, Manchester City is reportedly looking to retain his transfer market value and not lose his talents without a fight.
According to journalist José Félix Díaz, Yan Couto has a contract with Manchester City until 2025, and there have been attempts to renew it.
Real Madrid has shown interest in the player and sees him as a potential replacement for Dani Carvajal due to the age difference and his impressive evolution as a player.
In addition to Yan Couto, there have been few alternative options mentioned to replace Kyle Walker at Manchester City.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro and academy player Rico Lewis have been briefly considered as options for the right-back position.
The competition for Yan Couto’s signature is heating up, with both Real Madrid and Manchester City expressing their interest in signing the talented full-back.
As the summer transfer market approaches, it remains to be seen which club will succeed in securing his services for the next season.
