Pep Guardiola have the opportunity to achieve his ultimate post-Treble goal this month, following comments from the Etihad Stadium manager last year.
After thrashing Championship team Huddersfield Town 5-0 on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City now know what they will face in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round later this month.
In an attempt to advance to the fifth round of England’s most illustrious domestic cup tournament, City will play Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur for the second time this season. It may also be a historic moment for manager Pep Guardiola.
The Catalan coach previously said that, given the difficulty of the challenge, achieving a specific goal at the North London club’s home would be the ideal next goal following his team’s Treble success.
When asked by Sky Sports what his next task at Manchester City would be following his victory in the Treble last season, Pep Guardiola replied, “To score a goal against Spurs away… I intend to stay at Manchester City in order to defeat Spurs.
These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter(X) by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
