Manchester City have turned their attention to Serge Gnabry of Bayern Munich after cooling their interest in West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to a report.
Pep Guardiola‘s side had agreed a deal with West Ham for the midfielder last transfer window but the deal collapsed after it was revealed that Paqueta is currently under an FA investigation concerning suspicious betting activities.
After a deal collapsed it was reported that they could return for the midfielder in January. However, It has now been claim that the European champions are ready to end their interest in Brazilian international .
That’s according to the information of FootballTransfers’ Steve Kay claiming the Premier League champions have started to shift their attention towards an alternative deal for a player with different characteristics.
Still hesitant about Paqueta, Pep Guardiola’s side have instead been linked with Bayern winger Gnabry.
As per the the report, Man City have ‘significant interest’ in the Germany international and could start pursuing him ‘more seriously’ now they have put the Paqueta idea to one side.
Gnabry is under contract with Bayern until 2026 and has 228 appearances, 82 goals and 51 assists for the club to his name so far.
He previously played in the Premier League on a handful of occasions for Arsenal at the start of his career, as well as in an infamously disastrous loan spell with West Bromwich Albion.
It remains to be seen if City will be active when the transfer window opens in January. Kalvin Phillips is likely to leave the club in January with Newcastle, West Ham and Bayern Munich all interested in the England international.
If Phillips does leave Manchester City it would appear that Pep Guardiola’s squad could be a midfielder short.
It remains to be seen if they will move for another midfielder to strengthen the squad for their treble defence.
