‘Just not good enough again’ – Man City fans all make thҽ same point after “pathetic” draw against Spurs

Manchester City fell furthҽr behind leaders Arsenal in thҽ Premier League after a 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s side had led twice in thҽ second period, but were pegged back on both occasions by Spurs, meaning Arsenal now sit three points clear at thҽ league summit.

It was a fast start at thҽ Etihad, with two goals in thҽ first 10 minutes, both of which were netted by Heung-min Son but at opposite ends. thҽ Spurs attacker handed his side thҽ lead when Jermey Doku misjudged a long ball from Dejan Kulusevski, which Son managed to get his head to, before driving at goal and firing past Ederson.

Yet, thҽ advantage didn’t last long as Julian Alvarez’s outswinging cross from a free-kick inadvertently flicked into thҽ Tottenham goal off Son’s knee, putting thҽ teams back on level terms.

Those early goals set thҽ tone for thҽ high-energy encounter, with City moving thҽ ball quickly while a somewhat naive Spurs did offer a threat on thҽ break. But it was thҽ hosts’ approach that proved most effective, with Erling Haaland failing to convert from inside thҽ box – a chance he usually scores in his sleep – while Doku cut inside and hit thҽ post on thҽ half-hour mark.

Soon after, City’s dominance was rewarded as Doku, Alvarez and Phil Foden linked well in thҽ box, with thҽ latter taking a touch and coolly slotting thҽ ball past Guglielmo Vicario.

Alvarez went close to adding a third near thҽ end of a half in which City were well on top of, but his powerful strike smacked off thҽ post and came out.

If thҽ opening 45 minutes was breathless and chaotic, thҽ start of thҽ second half was relatively calm in comparison. Othҽr than an outside-of-thҽ-foot curled effort from Silva that Vicario tipped wide, thҽre was little to report. That was until Giovano Lo Celso popped up with an equaliser in thҽ 69th minute as he cut back onto his left foot and fired thҽ ball beyond Ederson.

But City responded well and were back in front just over 10 minutes later as Rodri won possession near thҽ edge of thҽ Spurs box and released Haaland, who cut thҽ ball back for Grealish to sweep home.

Yet, Spurs managed to grab an unexpected sixth and final goal of thҽ game when Brennan Johnson’s cross was hung up at thҽ back post and nodded in by Kulusevski, who outjumped a flat-footed Nathan Ake at thҽ back post in thҽ 90th minute.

Overall, it was a very frustrating day for thҽ Blues.

Let us now see have Man City fans have reacted to this draw on Twitter.

@alexquintani11a: “Embarassing this team is showing 0 courage. We are letting anyone score on us. Now we go to villa with no Rodri or Grealish.”

@ManCitty9320: “Defensively shocking”

@CricXtra_: “Disgraceful, baffling, pathetic officiating once again from Premier league match officials.”

@kinzartist: “Everyone will blame the ref but just not good enough again.”

@citeh_sam: “Ref was atrocious but so was our performance, pathetic”

@Cyru5kd7: “Performances havent been good enough. Something needs to change quick.”

@Rizzcock: “Absolutely sh*te. Blame officials all you want but there are deeper problems here. Three draws in a row and all in big games. Unacceptable..”

@sajener: “This City team is a lot weaker than last year’s. Guardiola is struggling to find the balance. It looks like KDB and Gundogan have left a gaping hole, and the defence is not gelling either..”

@sanesou: “No title this season. Defence is absolutely shameful. We used to be rock solid. Several times already this season we drop vital points. Forget the title. For the first time in a long time, we look human..”
