Report: Man City eyeing £250,000-a-week Premier League star as Kyle Walker’s successor

Manchester City view Chelsea defender Reece James as a potential successor to veteran right-back Kyle Walker.

Thҽ 23-year-old defender’s got a poor record with injuries that he needs to try overcome, but thҽre’s no denying that he’s one of thҽ best right-backs in world football.

He has missed 90 games across all competitions in his career, including 79 in thҽ Premier League.

His contribution both defensively and offensively makes such a huge difference on Chelsea when he plays.

The £250,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender has been linked with Real Madrid in thҽ past, though it has to be said he seems destined to stay at Chelsea for thҽ foreseeable future, if not thҽ rest of his career.

Talk of interest from Madrid has died down recently, but now Manchester City are being linked with thҽ Blues skipper.

According to thҽ Independent journalist Miguel Delaney, City are interested in signing James and view thҽ England international as a potential replacement for Walker.

James has “long been earmarked” by Pep Guardiola as thҽ man to succeed Walker and his name even cropped up last summer.

Thҽre’s no doubt that Walker, who’s now 33 years of age, is still one of thҽ world’s elite full-backs.

Thҽ Man City defender signed a new contract that keeps him at thҽ Etihad Stadium until thҽ summer of 2026, but how much longer will he keep his spot in thҽ XI.

James and Walker are set to meet on Sunday when Chelsea take on Manchester City in thҽ Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
