Rodri has eased fears of an injury as he was included in Spain’s starting XI for their final Euro 2024 qualifier vs Georgia.
Spain are already qualified for the Euros, and can seal a top seed spot ahead of Scotland as long as they match the Scots’ result against Norway.
They host fourth-placed Georgia on Sunday, and have been boosted by Rodri’s return to fitness after missing their win at Cyprus last week after feeling some discomfort.
But he returned to the starting lineup as Spain secured top spot in Group A with a comfortable win.
Rodri got through 86 minutes before being substituted in a positive sign for City ahead of the weekend.
This give Man City some good injury news during the international break ahead of this weekend game with Liverpool.
So far, Nathan Ake, Ederson, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Erling Haaland have all picked up injuries or withdrew from international duty for fitness reasons.
Thҽ Premier League champions will also be without long-term absentees Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Sergio Gomez.
An injury to Rodri would have been felt more than others, especially considering City lost three games from three when he was suspended last month.
The news was shared on Twitter(X) by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@MCFC_Jacky: “Someone thought he would miss liverpool 😂”
@ewan10i: “He’s fit”
@Joshua_MCI: “Glad he’s fit”
@primemancity: “Why are they starting him?”
@ManCitty9320: “Why start him in a useless game? This is completely irresponsible”
