Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided an important update surrounding the future of Julian Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez following recent reports.
Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly eyeing up a move for the Manchester City forward.
The 23-year-old has been enjoying a fine start to the 2023/24 season, with seven goals and five assists from 14 matches across all competitions.
The Argentine international also signed a new contract with the treble-winners earlier this year, committing his future to the Cityzens until 2028.
And with his prominence in the team rising, more and more suitors have started to emerge for the Manchester City attacker whose market value stands at €80 million.
Writing as part of a recent edition of his Daily Briefing, Romano admitted that Julian Alvarez is one Manchester City player that he does not see leaving the football club, despite reports from Europe claiming interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“One City player I don’t see leaving is Julian Alvarez, despite links with Barcelona,” Romano admitted. “It’s important to remember that Barcelona have invested big money on Vitor Roque and there’s obviously (Robert) Lewandowski there too.
“I’m not aware of any contact with Barca at all at this stage.”
Fabrizio Romano continued, “Man City have extended his contract as they trust Alvarez, they’re super happy with his attitude, and at the moment there’s no discussion at all internally or externally about the player leaving.”
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
