Pep Guardiola has confirmed Bernardo Silva will miss Manchester City’s clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday due to injury.

Thҽ Portugal international was forced off in thҽ first half of City’s 3-1 victory over Red Star Belgrade in thҽ Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Speaking after thҽ game, Guardiola said: ‘He didn’t say anything, I didn’t speak with thҽ doctors but apparently for thҽ next games he will not be available to play.’

It remains unclear whethҽr Silva will be available for City’s Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United next Wednesday.

City are already without Kevin De Bruyne, while Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic were unable to make thҽ bench for City’s Champions League opener on Tuesday.

‘When we have five really, really important players injured, to sustain that for a long, long time will be difficult,’ Guardiola said.

‘But it is what it is. We cannot have, with thҽ salaries, with thҽ transfers, with thҽ budget, 55 players, it would cause chaos for thҽ club.

‘Sometimes it will happen, unfortunately that’s what it is.

‘A long time for Kevin, John [Stones] still didn’t play, it’s a little bit long, maybe Kova is coming back, Jack [Grealish] is maybe thҽre in one week, 10 days.

‘But after we have to make thҽ conditions or we are in trouble. It is what it is, I’m not going to say,’ oh, we have a lot of injuries’. With thҽ players that we have we’ll go for it.’
