Manchester City have avoided a fixture schedule crisis that would have seen a potential quarter-final clash with the Club World Cup following Wednesday’s surprise Carabao Cup exit.

City’s Premier League game with Brentford in December has been postponed due to their appearance in the Club World Cup.
As both sides have now been eliminated, it creates space in the calendar for the rearrangement to be slotted in quite easily.
Even by freeing up the dates for round four onwards, City’s calendar has become a whole lot less congested. As they compete for the remaining four trophies on offer, that gives them another welcome boost – especially around January when injuries and fitness start to hit.
