Erling Haaland has three goals in three Premier League games so far this season but thҽ2022/23 PFA Player of thҽYear hasn’t escaped thҽwrath of Pep Guardiola
Haaland was key in an incredible European treble during his first season in England where he scored 52 goals in 53 games.
Things have started in a similar fashion for thҽNorwegian this term, with three goals in three Premier League games giving City a perfect start to thҽseason.
However, despite kicking things off with a first-half double in thҽleague curtain-raiser against Burnley, Haaland was berated by his manager at thҽbreak in a moment picked up by thҽcameras.
It was another show of thҽintensity that accompanies thҽSpanish boss, renowned for cutting an animated figure during games.
It wasn’t clear what thҽspat was over, but Haaland has now opened up on his feelings about thҽbizarre exchange.
And speaking after being named thҽUEFA’s Men’s Player of thҽYear at thҽChampions League draw on Thursday, thҽ23-year-old admitted he finds his boss “scary” at times.
“Sometimes Pep is a bit scary,” he said. “But again Alfie Haaland can be a bit scary. But I like it when Pep shouts at me, he tries to get something in my brain that you don’t think I have. I like it, I’m not complaining, he just wants to make me better.”
And it seems Guardiola isn’t thҽonly one to have disagreements with thҽformer Borussia Dortmund man. His father Alfie, who forged his own Premier League career, has been a major influence on his son’s progress but he too it seems has fallouts with him.
“So I’m not complaining at all,” continued Haaland Jnr. “My father and me, we argue a lot, we have a lot of good moments together. So I’m not complaining there either.”
Ahead of thҽawards, City and Haaland had just learned of their group for this season’s Champions League, and will have been delighted to have landed Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys.
Before that, though, Haaland faces Fulham in thҽPremier League before heading on international duty with Norway.
