Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Kalvin Phillips is likely to push for a loan exit in January, if his situation does not change.
The England international midfielder is continuing to battle for improved game time under Pep Guardiola, having falling further down the pecking order this season following the summer’s recruitment at the Premier League champions.
Phillips currently sits behind Rodrigo in the defensive midfield rankings at the Etihad, while Juanma Lillo opted to utilise Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva in the deeper-lying role during the closing stages of the recent 5-1 win over Fulham.
It’s not looking particularly good for Phillips and now a claim has been made about the England international.
According to the information of I Sport’s Mark Douglas, Kalvin Phillips’ Manchester City future is ‘increasingly uncertain’ following a summer transfer window that featured interest in his services from both Everton and Newcastle United.
Phillips has always been determined to make his City move work. And there is also a desire on City’s part to see things work out for a player that cost £45 million.
But it is stated that Phillips – described by City as ‘dedicated and talented’ – is likely to push for a move in January if his situation does not change.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@CalJackson_14: “Right decision, needs to get his career back on track”
@landon_xn: “He actually looked like he belonged against Fulham. I’m waiting to see how he does till January. I’m hoping he improves. He’s a real positive teammate”
@objective_KEL: “I doubt he’ll get that .”
@kazuake645: “The club has acquired Nunes and also has Kovacic. He has to produce results even though he has very few chances to play. Otherwise he won’t be at the club next season.”
@ManCandLovingIt: I love Kalvin because he won’t give up, he won’t take the easy way out and I like that. I think he will click when he gets enough minutes, that’s what he needs.”
@Tomi_4V3: “I pray he has an amazing season”
