Josko Gvardiol is on the verge of joining Manchester City this summer after the two clubs finally reached an agreement on a fixed fee, according to a new report.

The saga around Joško Gvardiol has been ongoing for a while, with his fantastic performances at the Qatar World Cup attracting interest from numerous European giants.

It is already known that Manchester City want Gvardiol, and the transfer has been considered a done deal on several occasions, but apparently, there has been a hitch in negotiations with RB Leipzig.

Tuesday brought fresh encouragement of an agreement being reached between the two clubs, with Red Bull supremo Oliver Mintzlaff – who heads up the energy drink giant’s entire sporting partnerships – leading the talks.

According to The Daily Mail, Man City want to push through a deal for Josko Gvardiol before Sunday’s Community Shield against Arsenal – and the fee is set to be below £86m after a breakthrough in talks

A separate report from German newspaper Bild states that the deal has been agreed upon, and representatives of both clubs have settled on a transfer fee of 90 million euros, which is ten million less than the initially demanded 100 million.

Fabrizio Romano has also subsequently confirmed the fee, whilst also revealing that the player is scheduled to undergo his Manchester City medical on Friday should all go to plan with the two clubs ironing out the remaining details.

Following the official confirmation of the deal to sign Josko Gvardiol, Manchester City are expected to press ahead with further activity in the ongoing market, as they look towards recruitment in either central midfield or out wide.

Gvardiol allegedly has been wanting to move to City for some time, and Pep Guardiola is ready to guarantee him a place in the starting 11, despite the wide squad of the “Citizens.”

The Croatian defender would thus surpass Harry Maguire and become the most expensive defender in history, which would also benefit his home club – Dinamo Zagreb.
