Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have agreed a deal with Lucas Paqueta over a contract.

As City continue to try to find a deal with West Ham United for the transfer of Lucas Paquetá, it seems they’ve now taken an important step towards the transfer.

According to the information of journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Lucas Paqueta has now agreed a six-year contract with Manchester City, while negotiations between the two clubs continue.

From the side of Manchester City, and despite a difference in valuations over the player, the Premier League champions hold ‘optimism’ when it comes to their chances of finalising a deal for the Brazilian midfielder due to the player’s ‘willingness’ to join.

Bouhafsi has also reported that City have made an offer of €85 million plus a further €10 million in bonuses to West Ham, who want €110 million without bonuses.

As for Paqueta himself, it is further suggested that the player has already spoke with City boss Pep Guardiola.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@kaydebee_17: “This really happening?”

@hellegaldc: “Omg it better be true!!”

@magicalsilva21: “Hopefully it’s gonna be a reasonable fee”

@minMcfc: “Agreeing personal terms with a player first is such an effective way of forcing clubs to lower the price. We’ve done it very well this window.”

@Gideoomatic: “Let’s see if this makes West Ham reconsider and accept the reduced and below value offer City sent them yesterday”

@rnss202: “Paqueta is quality but there’s absolutely no way we should be paying anything above 70 mil man ffs.”

@ballerEH9: “85M +10M bonus is too much”

@SigxaxaXolani: “At this point I don’t care about anything. I only care about having the best team possible to defend our UCL. Pay them what they want.”

News of this significant developments come just moments after West Ham manager David Moyes was quizzed on the subject during a pre-match press conference.

Ahead of the return of Premier League football this weekend, the West Ham boss explained on the situation surrounding Lucas Paqueta, “We’ve had an offer from Manchester City, but it’s not anywhere near meeting our valuation.”

Manchester City have failed with two verbal offers but are confident of getting him due to the player’s willingness to join them.

West Ham are unlikely to further resist selling him if Manchester City agree to meet their €110m asking price.

Nevertheless, City are feeling confident to wrap up the deal given Paquetá’s willingness to trade the London Stadium to the Etihad Stadium.
