Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Wolves have rejected a £47M bid for Matheus Nunes.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a leading target for the Citizens after they decided to walk away from negotiations with West Ham United to sign Lucas Paqueta amid a FIFA and FA betting investigation into the midfielder.
Following the departure of Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona and the injury suffered by Kevin De Bruyne, Pep Guardiola is looking to recruit a new midfielder before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.
A recent report claims that Man City have stepped up their interest in Nunes and have submitted an initial bid in excess of €50m (£42.7m).
Nunes is understood to have already given the green light to move to the Etihad Stadium as he is keen to represent the treble winners in the Champions League.
However, The Telegraph claims that Wolves received an opening bid of £47m from Man City on Thursday evening, which has been swifty rejected.
As per the report, The opening offer from Man City was worth £55M in total, but ‘nowhere near’ Wolves’ valuation.
The Citizens are expected to return with an improved offer, but a separate report from talkSPORT states that Wolves will demand a fee in excess of £60m for the Portugal international, who only moved to Molineux last summer for a then club-record £38m from Sporting Lisbon.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@huntethanz721: “Obviously, they know we’re desperate so they’re going want at least £55m.”
@King_Kevin100: “No surprises there… reckon around £65/70M in total gets it done.”
@MCFCzz: “Obviously it will be rejected, it’s nearly the same amount wolves paid for him.”
@mcfcadam10: “It’s too close to the end of the window every club is gonna try to rinse us. Just gotta accept it. We’ve left it too late”
@FodenxSZN: “Should never make signings late in the window”
