Manchester City are really interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The France Under-21 international signed for Palace back in July 2021, signing from Reading for £8.37m, and has quickly become one of the most talked about young players in the Premier League.

In his second full season with Crystal Palace, Olise became the youngest player to ever bag three assists in a single Premier League game – achieving the feat in a thumping 5-1 win over Leeds United – and also became the first Palace player to ever record over 10 assists in a single season in the top flight.

Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is reportedly the subject of genuine interest from treble winners Manchester City,

That’s according to a report by Football Insider that claims Pep Guardiola’s side see him as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who is expected to complete a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

Fabrizio Romano also confirmed Man City have really earmarked Michael Olise as the ideal Mahrez replacement but faces competition from rivals for the Crystal Palace winger.

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column:

“With Riyad Mahrez leaving for Al Ahli, Olise is one of the players appreciated by Manchester City in that area of the pitch.”

“Olise has a release clause at Crystal Palace, worth around £35m, which makes him a very tempting option, but he also had a recent injury, and so clubs are waiting to understand how long it will be until he’s back on the pitch.

“Still, it’s one to watch as Olise is on the list at both Manchester City and Chelsea, with both clubs well informed on his situation. Chelsea are really interested, City are just informed and he’s one of three names in their list. The player is open to making a top club move, of course.”

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@ripfumelo_sambo: “Sign him already, we can’t lose him to Chelsea.”

@vipCHEZ: “This guy is just a pure definition of …serene baller”

@FodenBetter47: “We need Gvardiol and Olise asap”

@FMikusiak: “We should start working on the deal with him, not just being kept informed”

@Real_Mshibe: “Is he better than Oscar Bobbs and Palmer? I don’t think so.”

@laaaities: “Olise is a great signing. He won’t scare either Palmer or Bobb and will be forced to raise his game to play elevating all 3 with the odds being that whoever doesn’t make the grade will be sold off in a season or two.”
