Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Bayern Munich will look to discuss a loan deal for Julian Alvarez, if they fail to sign Harry Kane this summer.
The German giants are on the search for a new centre-forward this summer, having arguably failed to replace Robert Lewandowski when he left for FC Barcelona last summer, and a number of their other targets proving to be financially challenging.
So far this summer, Bayern have already eyed moves for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, whilst their number one priority has been Tottenham and England international star Harry Kane – despite a deal proving to be unsurprisingly challenging.
Whilst Bayern Munich continue to chase a deal for Kane this summer, it has been reported that Bayern Munich have set their sights on signing Julian Alvarez on loan if a deal for England striker falls through.
That is according to the information of BILD’s Christian Falk, who reports that Manchester City striker Julián Álvarez remains on Bayern Munich’s list as a potential alternative towards the end of the transfer window, in case the signing Harry Kane proves to be ‘impossible’.
Considering the youngster, who is valued at around €60 million, is set to play second fiddle to Erling Haaland next season as well, Thomas Tuchel’s side are happy to test the waters and see if they can get a deal over the line.
However, it is clarified that City want to keep the Argentina international forward, and showcased their determination in retaining the player by renewing his contract by an extra year earlier on in 2023.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
