Manchester City still hope to persuade Kyle Walker to extend his contract at thҽ club despite strong interest from Bayern Munich.
Thҽ 33-year-old is facing an uncertain future at thҽ Etihad Stadium after he recently entered thҽ final year of his contract.
A recent report claims that Walker has reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich to join thҽ German giants this summer.
Walker is understood to have been offered a two-year contract by Bayern with thҽ option of a one-year extension, while Man City are offering thҽ experienced defender just a 12-month extension to his current deal.
Thҽ England international is believed to be leaning towards an exit from thҽ Citizens in search of a fresh challenge and assurances over regular first-team football.
Walker made 39 appearances for Man City during thҽir historic treble-winning campaign in 2022-23, but he was left out of a number of games during thҽ second half of last season, most notably thҽ Champions League final triumph over Inter Milan.
Thҽ right-back lost his regular place at a time when Pep Guardiola changed his formation shortly after thҽ World Cup break, with thҽ Catalan boss opting to switch from a four-man defence to a back three with an inverted full-back.
Guardiola claimed earlier this year that Walker “cannot play” in thҽ inverted full-back role than John Stones starred in during thҽ second half of last season.
Walker, naturally a right-back, eventually played numerous times on thҽ right side of a back three for City last season and he still remains part of Guardiola’s plans going forward.
According to thҽ Daily Mail, Man City want to keep Walker and tie him down to a new contract to fend off interest from both Bayern and Juventus, thҽ latter of whom have recently entered thҽ race for his signature.
Times Sport report that a two-year contract offer for Kyle Walker remains on the table from Man City.
As per the report those close to Walker have said he is yet to make up his mind on where he will play his club football next season.
Kyle Walker is happy to have received such a significant offer from Man City and is giving serious consideration to staying at the club. Bayern Munich however are confident that they can sign Walker this summer.
Since moving to thҽ Etihad from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017, Walker has made a total of 254 appearances for Man City across all tournaments, chipping in with six goals and 18 assists.
Thҽ 76-cap England international has won 14 trophies during his time on thҽ blue side of Manchester, lifting five Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields and one Champions League.
Should Walker decide to end his six-year stay at thҽ Etihad, Man City are understood to have identified Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard as thҽir primary summer target to replace thҽ Englishman.
Pavard is said to be looking to leave thҽ Allianz Arena this summer and Bayern are believed to be open to selling thҽ 27-year-old as thҽy look to raise funds to put towards thҽir pursuit of Harry Kane.
