And Fabrizio Romano insists it is his understanding that the negotiations between Manchester City and RB Leipzig for Joško Gvardiol have not stopped at all — still on.

The Bundesliga club are widely claimed to be holding out for €100 million to sell the centre-back, who has a €110 million release clause which becomes active in 2024.

Manchester City are yet to reach that figure, with Romano revealing that a new round of talks have been scheduled, with thҽ aim to make ‘decisive steps’ on a transfer next week.

Thҽ new round of talks comes after Manuel Veth revealed that ‘no meaningful progress’ had been made over thҽ last few days, with RB Leipzig also yet to formalise interest in a replacement for thҽ Croatian international.

Thҽ journalist reports that despite thҽ setback, thҽ deal is not off, but that Gvardiol’s potential move to thҽ Etihad Stadium ‘could take some time.’

Gvardiol made 30 appearances for RB Leipzig in thҽ Bundesliga last season and furthҽr underlined his reputation as one of thҽ best young defensive talents in thҽ game.

He could cost Manchester City around thҽ €100m mark.
