David Beckham admits he is ‘in awe’ of the success Pep Guardiola has achieved at Manchester City.
The Manchester club are currently gearing up for their next Premier League season to kick off after having won their fifth title in six years last term as well as picking up the FA Cup and the Champions League.
With that recent success in mind, Beckham, who is currently aiming for the club he now owns to have their own success, has named one important figure at the Etihad Stadium that he has been blown away by.
In a recent interview with The Athletic, Beckham had this to say when discussing City’s success in recent years.
He said: “It’s not just about what they’re winning. You can see that Man City are building for the future, not just from season to season. They’ve got stability with Pep [Guardiola], who I am in awe of.”
Guardiola was appointed as City’s manager back in 2016 after having successful spells in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
During his time at the Etihad, the Spaniard has overlooked 413 matches in all competitions, winning 305, drawing 49 and losing 59.
In terms of the silverware he’s won at City, the 52-year-old has won five Premier League tiles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and his first Champions League since 2011, making it his third of his career.
