Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims West Ham are exploring a deal that would see Kalvin Phillips move to the London Stadium.
Phillips made just four starts for Manchester City during the 2022/23 campaign, as injury and fitness hampered his debut season in East Manchester.
Phillips has spoken of wanting to remain at City, and he is planning to speak with manager Pep Guardiola over his future, having made just four starts in all competitions last season following his move from Elland Road.
Meanwhile, Man City have emerged as a shock suitor for the Hammers captain Declan Rice after the club rejected Arsenal’s opening bid for the England star.
The Hammers are aware that Manchester City are one of four clubs interested in potentially signing the England midfielder this summer.
As per ESPN, West Ham are believed to be interesting in exploring a deal that would see Kalvin Phillips move to the London Stadium if Manchester City successfully move for Declan Rice.
The Hammers were interested in Rice’s England team-mate when he was still playing for Leeds and tabled a bid worth £50m ($63.6m) to sign him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@HAALANDSR: “Actually I wouldn’t mind this”
@mbaalt8: “That would be perfect for us”
@JMC_OfficiaI: “With Gundogan looking likely to leave City should do a £70 million + Phillips deal for Rice”
@SilkyCyrus_74: “Win win for everyone involved. Make this happen.”
@JZMorrisEsq: “I know Phillips has expressed his desire to stay, but surely this would be an ideal solution for all parties. If KP was indeed fit enough to play (and wasn’t selected), then surely he’d rather move to another big club and play ahead of the euros.”
@lunaetetoile: “I want Declan to be here… but Kalvin shouldn’t go anywhere”
@lanukagarwal: “Kalvin is not moving, he himself said he wants to stay and fight to play in this City team. He has been nothing but positive, he can definitely improve under Pep.”
@suushi_ramen: “I want Phillips to stay, this club is not only about winning, it’s about second chances, close relationships and togetherness!”
