‘Truly deserved’, ‘Creating another Foden’ – Man City fans react as Guardiola makes decision on new midfielder to join first-team next season

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola is planning to give midfielder James McAtee first-team opportunities following spell at Sheffield United.

McAtee overcame a slow start to his United career to establish himself as a key member of the United squad that won promotion to the Premier League last season.

McAtee enjoyed a brilliant season at Sheffield United and was named their young player of the year following promotion to the Premier League, scoring nine times from 42 appearances.

The Blades are among several clubs wishing to take him on loan – newly-promoted Burnley are also keen – but City want to give their academy graduate an opportunity to develop alongside the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden.

That’s according to a report from the Daily Mail that claims Manchester City will resist loan offers for midfielder James McAtee as Pep Guardiola wants him to be part of his treble-winning squad next season.

The report adds that meetings have already taken place involving first-team and academy staff and the plan is for the 20-year-old to start the campaign with the senior side.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
