Manchester City have launched a first approach of €25 million for Mateo Kovacic not, which is not far off Chelsea’s valuation to seal a transfer for the Midfielder, as per Fabrizio Romano.
With one year left on his contract, the Blues have decided to sell, and Pep Guardiola’s side see him as a great technical option in the middle of pitch to replace Ilkay Gundogan, who looks likely to leave and seek a new challenge elsewhere this summer once his City contract expires.
Manchester City already have personal terms 100% agreed with the midfielder, and according to Romano, this agreement could only change if Etihad officials decide to enter the race for West Ham’s Declan Rice deal – where Arsenal remain favourites.
Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard stated that Manchester City hope to complete the deal to have Kovacic join them in pre-season training.
It has now been reported that Manchester City are not far off Chelsea’s valuation to seal a transfer for Mateo Kovacic after all.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have made their first approach worth €25 million (£21.3m) for Kovacic, with Chelsea wanting at least €30 million.
It seems like the Italian journalist was right all along when he claimed that Manchester City were just ‘final millions’ away from wrapping up a summer transfer for Mateo Kovacic.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@MaalimSeifudin: “That’s a steal. Mateo under Pep will be monstrous. City are doing the best business in the game.”
@JakePritchardFC: “£25 mil is a bargain”
@Ryan_Raz_: “Can’t complain £21 million is a bargain”
@Baggers55: “I wasn’t sure about this but it proves I’ve missed something. Watching him last night against Spain, even though he lost, was enough to convince me that it’s an excellent move.”
@slxvxid: “He was so good yesterday, might be a true big game player the press resistance and ball retention is insane”
@MCFCFedor: “Even for 30 I feel like its a great deal. I will love him to be here.”
@xlucosaurrr: “Sign him for 30, it’s fine. Get it done!”
