‘Don’t sell’, ‘He’s still at an elite level’ – Many fans react as £50m star linked with move away from Man City

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Kyle Walker is wanted by Sheffield United, and is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

The 33-year-old has been a pivotal member of Pep Guardiola’s side since his high-profile switch from Tottenham in 2017 in a deal worth an overall fee of £50m, winning five Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a long-awaited Champions League at the Etihad Stadium.

The England international has established himself as a key figure and a respected, senior voice in the Manchester City dressing room. But he saw regular minutes hard to come by towards the latter stages of the 2022/23 campaign as Guardiola placed his faith in his strong centre-half battalion to provide cover in the wide defensive positions.

Earlier today, it was reported in an article from The Athletic that there is a “high chance” the Englishman will leave the club this summer.

The form of Manuel Akanji has meant a change of formation and Walker, 33, has fell victim to that and lost his place in the starting XI

This has quickly led to some interest apparently being shown in the full-back, who will be entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium soon.

According to TalkSPORT, Sheffield United are keen on Manchester City defender Kyle Walker who is also drawing interest from Saudi Arabia this summer.

In further information provided by 90Min’s Graeme Bailey, it is reported that Sheffield United are prepared to offer the veteran defender a three-year contract, while Aston Villa and West Ham are also ‘keeping tabs on his situation’ at the Etihad Stadium

The reports shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@sanesou: “Don’t sell Kyle. He is so hard to replace and still a top player.”

@ItsFodenTime: “We need kyle around, he is very key for massive games and a true leader”

@XDolanpix: “We will regret it if we let him go, no one can replace him at the moment”

@JosepGS4: “No way Walker leaves this summer”

@SxrgioSZN: “He’s still at an elite level mannn ffs”

@OneEyedLycan: “I would have thought he’d stay for his final year of his contract and then go on a free to Sheffield United”

@Kobayashiiii1: “He’s gonna maintain his speed until 50 years old and meanwhile such a funny and nice person shouldn’t let him leave. He’s like Scott Carson support the team a lot behind the scene”

@OG_GotPaid: “Man City should not make the mistake of losing Kyle Walker just yet..”

@tom_mcfc05: “If he wants to go to Sheffield United then he’s free to, it’s his boyhood club after all”
