Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Everton are keen on signing midfielder Shea Charles this summer.
The 19-year-old was named on the substitutes bench by Pep Guardiola for their final Premier League fixture of the season against Brentford, coming on for Nathan Ake just after the hour mark.
But in the search of more regular first-team football Charles looks set to leave the club this summer, with Everton among the clubs interested in signing him according to the Daily Mail (29 May).
“Everton are also keen on Manchester City’s Northern Ireland international midfielder Shea Charles,” they wrote.
“The 19-year-old was on the bench at Brentford and has admirers at Bundesliga clubs Red Bull Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund also.”
Charles is a super-talented young footballer, justified by the fact he is already a full international for Northern Ireland despite only making his top-flight debut in Sunday’s dead rubber.
Very comfortable on the ball he has also attracted interest from Leeds but with their relegation to the Championship they’re unlikely to be able to compete anymore.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@Silky04_: “Not gonna sell him after he’s our captain for the EDS and just made his debut for the first team are we?”
@LaRub110: “On loan why not”
@MCFC_Erik: “If it’s a loan then yeah”
@jjgghyyln: “Would love to loan him out to Everton to get some premier league football then bring him back to the first team in 1-2 years”
@izzy900is: “For a loan, Leipzig would be a really good option for him.”
@CharlieE267: “Too good to be playing EDS football now, defo needs a loan somewhere or even sold…”
