Arsenal City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Manchester City are becoming increasingly confident of signing Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.
The 16-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in the Arsenal academy, a setup which has helped produce players such as Bukayo Saka, Serge Gnabry, Joe Willock and Emile Smith Rowe in recent years.
The Gunners made him the youngest-ever Premier League player earlier this season when he turned out from the bench against Brentford at just 15 years and 181 days old.
However, the midfielder has not featured for the first team since then and could now depart the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Arsenal are at serious risk of losing the talented teenager. In March, The Telegraph revealed City and Chelsea to be hunting his signature.
And Football Insider have now provided an update on the situation. They reveal that City are ‘confident’ of winning the race for Nwaneri.
Both City and Chelsea have been monitoring his situation ‘for months’, but the Prem leaders have recently moved into ‘pole position’ to sign him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the Gunners.
@SalibaTequila: “Depressing if true”
@pedroelchileno: “Really want this guy to stay. Top talent.”
@CCampbellAplin: “Will be so disappointing if this happens. The Odegaard role screams his name.”
@cestkhalas: “If he goes I hope he knows he’s ruined his career”
@koolboy1993: “What’s the point he won’t even be given a chance in the first team is better off here”
@mtvmarios: “Biggest talent at the club. Arsenal fans have tried for months to downplay his talent as a copium mechanism that he’s leaving. Congrats Man City, you just picked up the best english talent around”
@upthegoon: “I don’t know why our new acad graduates are looking at the first chance to jump ship after seeing a project of young guys battle it out for the title toe to toe. Would have liked to see two of MLS, Nwaneri and Patino stay/ atleast not join direct rivals.”
