‘Sounds a bit silly’, ‘Even 4 years isn’t enough’ – Many Man City fans fume at new Erling Haaland transfer update

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club feel Erling Haaland may now be set to stay at the club for ‘at least’ four seasons, rather than the three as per the original plan.

Real Madrid were in competition with City to sign him last summer. Ultimately, the draw of the Premier League proved decisive, and also the fact City needed a number nine.

Haaland made the move to Manchester, and has been a resounding success so far in England. The striker was always going to score goals in this City team. But few really imagined he’d do so quite as frequently as he has.

It’s 51 and counting for the season for City. And Madrid will be looking to stand firm, against a player they have long admired and still hope to land in the future.

Interestingly, The Times have produced an article about Haaland, ahead of tonight’s huge Champions League clash with Real Madrid and has touch on how much the 22-year-old superstar genuinely likes being at City after his first 10 months at the club.

He has massively appreciated how he has been received by supporters. And apparently, there is now an acceptance Haaland could stay for at least four seasons at the club.

The original plan was for Haaland to stay for three seasons. He did pen a five-year deal when he signed for City. But the talk was that he would be sold before getting to the end of it.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@StevenMcinerney: “Wait. Are you telling me that yet again a superstar footballer could absolutely fall in love with this club and stay for longer than people (fans of other clubs, or media, let’s be honest) ever said they would?”

@aalexariton: “it sounds a bit silly to have planned how many years he’ll stay before he even played a minute. idk if it’s just me being biased and wishing he’ll stay but to me all this talk about him already having planned that he’ll leave sounds a bit superficial”

@mancity_talk: “Even 4 years isn’t enough”

@Mo_Aziz17: “This kind of news always comes before our big game. Subterfuge journalist”

@ErlingEuphoria: “He’s gonna be he here until he’s in his 30s then move to somehwere he always wanted to go”

@ladiesluvbrando: “Hopefully he stays for 10 more years and retires here”

@hassanloltube: “As a footballer, it would be mental to leave the EPL and specifically Man City right now. Won’t be surprised if he starts bagging the Balon D’ors. Even Mbappe would’ve won it by now had he been in a decent league, EPL.”

@TheDaveCalaz: “David Silva was using City as a stepping stone to Madrid. Aguero was using City as a stepping stone to Madrid. Haaland is using City as a stepping stone to Madrid. 2 out of 3 have statues. We are playing a different game. There are levels of the pull you must respect.”
