Manchester City defender Nathan Ake admits it’s ‘very frustrating’ to suffer an injury in the season’s run-in but he’s hopeful that his hamstring strain ‘isn’t too bad’.
The Dutchman pulled up in the second half of City’s 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich on Wednesday, which saw Pep Guardiola’s side progress to the semi-finals of the competition.
The 28-year-old has been in fine form for City this term, starting 28 of the side’s 47 games in all competitions.
Ake has predominantly been used at left-back and City are without another recognised senior left-back in his absence.
Aymeric Laporte replaced Ake in Munich but the Spaniard has been out of favour this term.
‘There were fears that a hamstring strain could rule Ake out of the remainder of the season, in which City are competing in three competitions.
But, while the defender must wait on scan results, he’s hopeful the injury is ‘not too bad’.
‘It’s very frustrating,’ said Ake.
‘This season I’ve been mostly injury-free. We’ll see how it is but hopefully it isn’t too bad.
‘I’ve had it before and it feels a bit less to be honest, but you never know with these things so we will do the ultrasounds on Friday.’
City take on Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday, as they look to book a place in the Wembley final to face Brighton or Manchester United.
Guardiola’s side are battling on three fronts and they take on league leaders Arsenal at the Etihad next Wednesday for a title decider.
