Joao Cancelo appears to have fired another shot at Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ahead of the pair’s reunion on Tuesday night.
Bayern Munich travel to the Etihad, with Cancelo eligible to face his parent club despite being on loan from Man City for the remainder of the season.
The Portugal international departed on a temporary basis during the January transfer window after Sportsmail revealed that his relationship with Guardiola broke down after a training ground bust-up.
Speaking to Bayern Munich’s YouTube channel, Cancelo appears to have made a dig at his former manager at Man City as he praised Bayern’s coaching staff and discussed their principles.
He said: ‘Bayern Munich is a club that considers discipline to be very important. The staff at Bayern are very professional – and I can identify with these principles.’
The defender continued to highlight his desire to beat his parent club in the Champions League quarter-finals before outlining the differences between life in Germany and England.
‘I am a very competitive player and I don’t like losing,’ he continued. ‘I never give up, it sums up who I am.
‘Discipline as well, as I am a professional and hard-working footballer, with a strong personality.
‘The Premier League is very competitive, with strong players physically and technically. But the Bundesliga has definitely surprised me with organised teams and good players.
‘Maybe the Premier League has a bit more intensity but I think overall they’re pretty similar.’
Man City host the Bundesliga leaders tonight in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final at the Etihad, with the clash promising to be one of the most exciting match-ups in the competition so far.
