‘He is definitely leaving’, ‘deserves to be a starter’ – Man City fans react as fresh development throw Laрorte’s future into serious doubt

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will not stand in Aymeric Laporte’s way if he wants to pursue a move elsewhere.

Laporte has found game time hard to come by in recent weeks as the Blues’ Ruben Dias, John Stones and Nathan Ake have enjoyed bright spells.

Rumours have been circulating for a while that the Spanish international has been becoming restless in Manchester and is looking for an exit.

His current contract expires in 2025 but the 28-year-old has featured just twice in all competitions since a draw at Nottingham Forest in February.

Laporte started his first Premier League match for Manchester City in almost two months on Saturday evening, featuring from the start in a 3-1 win over Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Aymeric Laporte threw more doubt over his own future with a cryptic upload to his Instagram story last week.

The City centre-back was pictured in his car with the caption, “After the rain, a rainbow; after a storm, the calm; and after an end, a new beginning.”

According to the latest from Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail, Manchester City officials will not stand in the way of Aymeric Laporte, should he hold a desire to leave the Etihad Stadium in the coming months.

It is detailed that the 28 year-old has been left ‘frustrated’ by a lack of game time, and Manchester City ‘do not want unhappy players within the squad’.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
