Aston Villa are reportedly lining up a double bid for Manchester City duo Kalvin Phillips and Kyle Walker during this summer’s transfer window.
Phillips only joined the Citizens from Leeds United last summer, but the 27-year-old has struggled for action during the 2022-23 campaign, making just 15 appearances in all competitions.
All seven of the midfielder’s Premier League appearances this season have come off the bench, with his only two starts for the club in 2022-23 coming in the EFL Cup and FA Cup.
Phillips missed a lot of matches earlier this season with a shoulder injury, but he has been available since last November and has still struggled to secure action.
It seems Aston Villa are now ready to tempt Kalvin Phillips into a transfer a year after he joined the Premier League champions.
According to Football Insider, Villa are keen to sign the England international in the upcoming market, while Walker is also wanted by Unai Emery’s side in a double deal that could be worth £55m.
Walker only has a contract with the Premier League champions until the summer of 2024, and there is currently speculation surrounding his future at the Etihad Stadium.
The 32-year-old has only made 26 appearances for the Citizens this season, with the defender no longer considered to be an automatic starter for the club.
Elsewhere, It has been reported that the agents of Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic are in London to hold talks with Manchester City over a potential transfer.
A month ago, it was first claimed that the Premier League champions were keen on a move for the Chelsea midfielder.
Perhaps the initial link was not just mere transfer talk as Mateo Kovacic could not be set to join Manchester City after all.
But it seems Manchester City are ready to put that aside to complete a transfer for Mateo Kovacic, as per a report by Croatian outlet TV N1 Zagreb.
N1 claim ‘Kovacic is a great desire of Pep Guardiola’ and given the 28-year-old is yet to agree a contract extension at Chelsea, will be available for a good price.
