Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will pull out all the stops to keep Bernardo Silva at the club past this summer despite speculation about his future.
Silva has been a key player for Manchester City since joining the club from AS Monaco, and he has helped them win several trophies during his time in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old was heavily linked with the move away from the Premier League club last summer as well. But Manchester City managed to keep him at the club.
Silva has shown his versatility this season in City’s fluid tactical system. From 37 appearances in all competitions, he has scored four goals and provided five assists.
There have been a few claims recently that it could be his last season at the Etihad Stadium, with Barcelona continuing to circle. By the summer, there will only be two years remaining on his contract.
Silva hasn’t made his itching desire for a new challenge a secret but City are determined to keep the 28-year-old with midfielder Ilkay Gundogan potentially completing a free transfer exit in the summer window.
That’s according to Football Insider who claims Manchester City are determined to keep Bernardo Silva at the club beyond this summer, even if it is just for one more season.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@zpdlouzebar: “Great decision.”
@Emerald_mf: “That’s a good news, now we’re talking 🙌.”
@cittttehhhhhh: “Love to hear it. He’s really hard to replace”
@guynamedjoe: “it’s been one more season for the last 3/4years”
@r0drx16: “As frustrating as this is, I’d like Bernardo to stay. We won’t get another player like him”
@SamFree55640200: “I reckon they don’t want to lose Bernardo and Gundo in the same season so it’ll probably depend on what Gundo does”
@Abu Amal: “There’s no replacement for bernado Silva in the market even if we sell him for 250m, it would just be one less quality player in our squad and a better looking bank account for the sheikh. Don’t sell him at all costs!”
@bradrea: “My favourite player but think it’s time for him to move on. If he’s not happy let him go, get a decent few quid for him this summer and put the money towards Bellingham”
@CanceIoCuIture: “Just give it up, if he wants out just let him go and get someone who wants to play for us 100%”
@HansSwoleman: “Just sell him got a fee and reinvest ffs. Obviously he’s absolutely quality but if he wants to go, help him go and bring in people to refresh the midfield.”
