‘No way Pep is leaving’ – Many Man City fans hits out at ‘fake report’ earmarking 52-year-old manager as Guardiola’s successor

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have earmarked Luis Enrique as Pep Guardiola’s successor, should he decide to leave at the end of the season.

Guardiola renewed his agreement with City until 2025 the past month of November but some behind the scenes at the Etihad Stadium supposedly ‘fear’ his departure.

According to El Chiringuito, however, City fear that he may have had enough by the end of the campaign.

City chiefs are alleged to have already started scouting around for replacement options as Guardiola mulls over whether to take a sabbatical from football – much like he did after an intense four-year spell with Barca.

As per the report, Manchester City have earmarked Luis Enrique as Pep Guardiola’s successor, should the 52-year-old decide that he has had enough at the end of the season.

The report adds that City have already spoken with Enrique’s representatives about a three-year contract worth a whopping £14million per season.

City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, is thought to be a big admirer of Enrique. Like Guardiola, the Spaniard had a successful spell with Barcelona and would provide the Sky Blues with a similarly attractive style of play.

Luis Enrique has been out of job since parting ways with the Spanish national team after their disappointing World Cup exit at the hands of Morocco.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
