A series of Manchester City supporters have taken to social media to react to a new update outlining the Premier League champions’ plans for the upcoming transfer window in January.
In recent years, Manchester City have rarely made any high-profile signings in the January transfer window. However, as Aymeric Laporte’s arrival in 2018 shows, Pep Guardiola is not entirely against winter recruitment if the right player comes along and the need is there.
And with City enduring a tricky start to the season – Pep Guardiola’s side currently trail Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table – Many fans thought 2023 January transfer window could be the time for orthodoxies to change.
According to MEN, Manchester City are unlikely to change their plans for the January transfer window with another quiet month expected.
As per the report, the bulk of attention in January will be centered around outgoing deals for young players; Morgan Rodgers could move to Blackpool on loan in one such move.
Following the recent update on City’s transfer plans for the next month, plenty of fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment at the news, which is likely to see Guardiola retain the entirety of his squad for the rest of the campaign
@tacticalfoul47: I’m not shocked tbh, I expected this. Even if we signed a winger, it could’ve been a hit/miss with their integration…similar to Akanji, Gomez or even Phillips.
@kvbraaaa: They need to do something otherwise it could be worse
@RunthatbackT: Everyone is strengthenin with Gakpo, Mudryk and Enzo while city have got the smallest squad in the leauge. Embarassing, another season in which Pep will fail to win the CL.
@LucasMillerking: We’re finished
@nourmcfc: Trophyless season
@TeacherOfBall: Scrap this season
@TundeVorm: This is the worst feeling ever, we have all the money in the world but won’t solve issues that money can easily solve.
@Laporte_SZN: if going trophyless this season would be enough to wake up about signing wingers and fullbacks then i’m all for it
@Number19Number9: This will either be a fantastic decision or an absolutely horrid one and we’ll see at the end of the season
@FodenTime: We need a winger but I won’t be pedantic about it. What we have should be enough for the domestic cups and CL qualification.
@B_Baker1456: As much as I really want Leao right now and I think we probably do need him our fan base is being so reactionary right now. Just chill out trust pep and trust the lads we’ve literally been in this situation twice before. Look at the bigger picture.
