Pep Guardiola shares if he regrets Man City transfer decisions that could help Arsenal win the title

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that he does not regret selling both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal in the summer, despite the Gunners currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table.

The former City pair moved to Arsenal in the summer where they have been hailed as major influences in the Gunners’ excellent campaign so far.

Arsenal finished fifth last season and at the time of spending £45million on Jesus and £30m on Zinchenko, few had the north London side as serious rivals to Manchester City for the title.

However, they now sit five points clear of Guardiola’s side and have a game in hand. Guardiola does not regret helping Arsenal upgrade in the summer, however.

The boss says both players wanted to leave the Club and so the decision to let the move on was an easy one.

“When they want to leave they cannot stay,” said Guardiola.

“I wish the best for Gabriel and Oleks. They are fantastic people, and they helped us a lot. I never say one player leave, it’s the club and it’s their decision.

“Erling and Julian came and it’s difficult for Gabriel. What happened with Gabriel is normal. It was a good deal.

“For the players that were here, Gabriel, Raheem, Oleks. I have a big thank you for what they have done for us.

“It was a good transfer for the club. We are not in the position we are because we do not have Oleks or Gabriel.”
