‘We dont want him’, ‘We want Enzo Fernandez’ – Many Man City fans say the same thing as Rio Ferdinand predicts Jude Bellingham’s next club

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has predicted who Jude Bellingham will sign for next summer amid reports linking him with a £130m move away from Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old’s rise to prominence in such a short space of time has been extraordinary. He left his boyhood club Birmingham City to join Dortmund a couple of years ago.

Since then, the teenager has established himself as one of the best young players in Europe and he is now making a great impact for England at his first World Cup.

Bellingham has stepped up to be a leader for Dortmund this season and he has even captained the Bundesliga side on several occasions.

It is expected to be a hectic few months for the centre-midfielder as he is likely to leave Dortmund next year.

Dortmund are said to rate him at £130m but this asking price may rise even further if he continues to shine for club and country.

Ferdinand expects Manchester City to win the race to sign Bellingham next year before he “goes to Madrid in five years”.

“I think he will [join Manchester City], yeah. He’ll say, ‘listen, I’ve got a couple of mates there, English boys. I can go to Madrid in five years,’” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel.

“There’s no rush. I just think he thinks: ‘you know what, I’m the superstar. I’m going to win the Premier League, because I’m an English-born boy.

“And then I’ll go to Madrid and I’ll do the same there in a few years.’”

These Ferdinand’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

Man City may have to stump up around £130m to win the race for Jude Bellingham next summer, which would obliterate their transfer record. There’s some fears that City may end up being priced out of a deal with Real Madrid in the hunt.

There would undoubtedly be some frustration among City fans if Bellingham ends up signing elsewhere. But surprisingly it now seems many (judging on the above comments) will prefer to see Enzo Fernandez at the Etihad Stadium instead of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

Manchester City show transfer interest in Enzo Fernandez

Manchester City have been mentioned as a potential suitor in the race to sign highly-rated Benfica and Argentina midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, according to reports.

The Argentinian midfielder joined Benfica from River Plate for a mere €12m this summer. He immediately became an important cog for the team and caught the eyes of many clubs with his performances. In 18 games in the league and Champions League so far this season, Fernandez has 1 goal and 5 assists against his name (stats via Transfermarkt).

The central midfielder put in eye-catching performances against Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, as Benfica topped their Champions League group. His displays also warranted a national team call-up to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

According to Portuguese newspaper Record last month, Man City are one of several clubs being linked with a move for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez and  had sent scouts to watch the Argentine in Champions League action.

Still only 21-years-old, Enzo Fernandez would be an excellent long-term solution at Manchester City, with manager Pep Guardiola one of the best in the world at nurturing young players.

It is highlighted that Enzo Fernandez is now valued at €35 million by Transfermarkt, but is protected at Benfica by a staggering €120 million release clause.
