Former Manchester City hero Leroy Sane has sparked hope amongst supporters after returning to the Etihad Stadium for the Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.
The Germany international was an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s title-winning squads in both 2017/18 and 2018/19, before leaving the club for Bayern Munich early in the 2019/20 season.
Many would argue that Manchester City have somewhat failed to replace the spark that Sane had offered in the attacking trio at the Etihad Stadium, with the former Schalke forward shining during his new spell in Germany thus far.
However, during the Carabao Cup fourth round clash against Liverpool, supporters on social media were given fresh hope that a return to Manchester City may be on the cards in the future.
In an upload to his Instagram story midway through Manchester City’s clash with the Merseyside club, Leroy Sane showcased his seat within the Etihad Stadium as he watched on from a corporate box within the arena.
Sane sparked a major reaction from Manchester City supporters on Twitter after images of the Bayern Munich star reuniting with his former team mates emerges.
