Brazil are reportedly weighing up a move for Pep Guardiola

Brazil are reportedly set to approach Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to sound out their interest in the manager and uncover his future plans.

Guardiola penned a new deal at the Etihad Stadium earlier this year that will see him stay at the club until 2025. Though the CFB have not been deterred by that and they consider him the ‘best coach in the world’.

The rumours which had been circulating since the start of the year were made official in the immediate aftermath of Brazil’s elimination from the Qatar 2022 World Cup at the hands of Croatia at the quarter-final stage.

After their disappointing World Cup exit – suffered at the hands of exta-time and penalty shooutout experts Croatia – Brazil will be looking for a new manager.

According to SPORT, the Confederacao Brasileira de Futbol (CFB) are set to contact Guardiola imminently to establish what his future plans are.

President Ednaldo Rodrigues is responsible for appointing Tite’s successor and is intent on hearing first-hand whether he will be able to turn to the City manager at the end of the season.

It turns out that Guardiola has been considered for the role in the past. Legendary striker Ronaldo Nazario has stated that Brazil wanted to hire the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss as manager but he preferred to say with Man City instead.

As quoted by Catalan media, Ronaldo said: “There was interest in Guardiola, it was discussed with Guardiola’s coaching staff, but he preferred to renew the contract with Manchester City. It might be difficult for the CBF to reach an agreement, he is the highest-paid coach in the world.”

These Ronaldo’s comments shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
