Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for AC Milan.
Despite costing £100m last summer, Grealish has failed to regular impress under Pep Guardiola, at least compared to the numbers that he produced at Aston Villa.
Although the England international has made 44 starts and 11 substitute outings, he has just seven goals and four assists to his name.
With just one strike coming in the Premier League this campaign, that being a close-range finish versus Wolverhampton Wanderers, speculation has started to emerge regarding Grealish’s long-term future at the Etihad Stadium.
The 27-year-old has a contract with City until 2027, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side in a strong position if they ever wish to fend off interest in his signature.
However, it has been claimed that Guardiola may be prepared to cash in on Grealish should an opportunity arise over the coming transfer windows.
According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are monitoring the situation in the event that they need to add to their options in the final third.
As it stands, key man Rafael Leao has just under 19 months remaining on his contract, leaving the Italian giants in a position where they may soon have to consider a sale.
Despite the insistence of Milan officials that they will do everything possible to retain the services of the Portugal international, it remains to be seen what would materialise if they receive an offer in the region of £100m, as has been suggested in some quarters.
With contract negotiations likely to drag into the turn of the year, Milan are unlikely to contemplate a sale at the midway point of the campaign.
Nevertheless, if the decision is made to cash in on the 23-year-old in the summer, Grealish is seemingly regarded as a realistic alternative.
The report suggests that a proposal worth €70m (£60.47m) may be enough to tempt City into a sale, despite their higher financial outlay on the player less than 18 months ago.
Guardiola would allegedly prefer to use any generated funds in the pursuit of a new midfielder with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham among the names that he would consider adding to his ranks.
Elsewhere, Manchester City are offering €30m for Juventus youngster Nicolò Rovella amid his impressive loan spell at Monza.
That’s according to journalist Massimo Pavan as relayed by Sport Witness, who says City are keen on the 21-year-old and willing to help Juventus get their money back for him.
Rovella joined Juventus in a €26m deal from Genoa in January 2021 but was loaned back to the club for a year before joining Monza in August.
He’s been a regular for them this season, starting nine of their 13 games in Serie A, getting the regular minutes he needs to continue his development.
