Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has told Paris Saint-Germain superstar to reject a move to Real Madrid in favour of joining his former club.
The Frenchman was widely expected to join the La Liga giants last summer before a remarkable u-turn that saw him sign a new deal in Paris.
However, though Mbappe was given a huge increase in influence at the club, he reportedly informed Paris Saint-Germain officials of his desire to leave once again just six weeks ago.
Real Madrid remain interested in Mbappe and the Frenchman even personally called president Florentino Perez last summer to apologise for rejecting the club.
Mbappe opened his World Cup account in a 4-1 win against Australia on Tuesday and he terrified the Aussie defence with his direct running and pace in behind.
Kompany was in awe of Mbappe’s performance and said it’s impossible to stop a player like that when he’s in form.
‘There are few players that give you that feeling: Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronaldo. You have no solutions,’ Kompany told the BBC.
‘If he can keep doing what he does, it’s very difficult to limit a player like this… With France they have a big player who can do that.
The questioning then turned to Mbappe’s next club.
After it was suggested that he would move to Real Madrid, Kompany admitted he envisaged that happening but said a move to City would be better for him because Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world.
‘I think that is what we expect him to do. (But) he wants to win the Champions League with PSG, it will mean a lot to him,’ said Kompany.
‘Put the best player with the best coach in the best league in the world and I let you guess who that is! Manchester City, that’s when you’ll see the best version of him.’
These Kompany’s comments shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

“But I don’t want him anywhere near this club. We are a team not a one man show.”
