‘Right mentality’, ‘Head up Phil’ – Man City fans react to Foden’s comments after defeat to Brentford

Phil Foden has expressed his determination for City to bounce back from the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Brentford at the Etihad Stadium.

Ivan Toney put the Bees ahead in Saturday’s early offering before Phil Foden pulled City back level on the cusp of half-time.

But despite their spells of possession and protests for penalties, Brentford burst forward in injury time for Toney to win it at the death.

City, for all their possession, failed to truly carve out any clear cut chances and stretch Brentford’s defence which remained resilient.

Foden admitted that the defeat was tough to take, but is already looking forward to City’s response after the World Cup.

“We’re down, we lost a game of football. We had chances to win the game definitely.

“We need to just forget about it, clear our heads, come back from the World Cup and try and go again.

“We’re not used to having this break now. So the league will feel a little bit different his year but, like I said, once we get back, we want to start winning games again and fix it.”

These Foden’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
