Manchester City fans were delighted with Jack Grealish’s desire to drive at Chelsea’s defence in his “magnificent” performance in Manchester City’s Carabao Cup win.
Jack Grealish was one of City’s standout player and created a number of chances but it was Mahrez who broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute from a free kick.
Alvarez doubled City’s lead five minutes later, sending a spectacular crossfield ball towards Mahrez and knocking the loose ball in from close range after Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy had parried the Algerian’s low strike.
Grealish kept drifting into a more central role and posed a threat for his opponents all night. Offered a lot creatively and was a key cog in City’s victory.
He was denied on three occasions by Edouard Mendy during the 2-0 win, but his quick feet and driving runs were a constant threat to the visitors.
This was a performance full of character from Grealish, Surely he will set a personal best this year?

‘Grealish was fantastic today but he don’t need to hold the ball for too long..he should be quick in passing…city can win any tournament but we still need some improvement..it was a good game indeed.”
