‘Man City will be keeping tabs on him’ – Journalist drops exciting claim on highly-rated €40 star

Manchester City are keeping tabs on highly-rated RB Salzburg star Noah Okafor, according to Sport Journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The centre-forward, who can also operate as a winger on either flank, is enjoying a top season in Austria. He has managed 10 goals and two assists in his first 22 matches this campaign, with seven of those strikes coming in Austria’s Bundesliga.

Okafor found the net 14 times in the whole of last season, so he is primed and ready to surpass that achievement when domestic leagues return after the World Cup.

The 22-year-old, who is hoping to be a part of the Switzerland squad for the tournament, has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal and Leeds United.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports earlier this month that Manchester City are in the race to sign Red Bull Salzburg forward Noah Okafor.

Florian claim a move for the forward during the January transfer window could be on the cards, with Red Bull Salzburg demanding around €35M – €40 million for him.

O’Rourke says that Okafor could be an exciting prospect for any European club and that Man City are monitoring the situation.

“It would be a really exciting signing and he’s probably one of the most highly-rated young players in European football right now,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“He’s impressed at RB Salzburg, scoring goals for them and scoring goals in the Champions League as well and it’s just enhanced his reputation. He’s a top young player who will be at the World Cup Switzerland as well.”

“I’m sure Man City will be keeping tabs on him. Probably a number of top European clubs as well, because I don’t expect RB Salzburg to keep hold of him for much longer. He will probably want to move to one of the bigger European leagues in the near future.”

Pace and pressing ability is exactly what Man City will be looking for and Okafor could emerge as a key target for Pep Guardiola and co moving into 2023.
