Manchester City ‘like’ Rafael Leao and have reportedly promised Pep Guardiola the signing of the AC Milan forward, according to reports from Italy.

The 23-year-old, who continues to grab headlines amid an uncertain future at AC Milan, has been heavily linked with a move away from San Siro in recent months.

The electric winger, who is one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe right now, remains on the radars of top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Portuguese attacker was the Serie A MVP last season, helping the Rossoneri win the league title with his terrific performances.

According to Italian football expert Carlo Garganese via GiveMeSport, Man City are ‘not the only team’ on the versatile attacker’s trail, although they remain the ‘most interested’ party.

He said: “Some other Premier League clubs as well; Man City like him, so they’re not the only team. They are the team that are most interested out of those clubs.”

A seperate report from Fichajes claims Manchester City will prioritise the signing of Rafael Leao next summer after the club promised Pep Guardiola the AC Milan winger.

Leao’s contract expires in 2024, but his current deal includes a huge release clause. He could be available for as little as £60m, though, thanks to his ongoing contract situation, meaning Pep Guardiola’s side may be hopeful of securing a bargain deal over the coming months.

Would Leao be a good signing?

Guardiola reportedly wants a new player that elevates the quality of the team. Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus’s departures have reduced our attacking rate.

And the Manchester City manager wants more power from wide areas. Leao could become that star who has proved his abilities from the wing by regularly scoring or assisting.

With Leao comfortable on the left-wing and upfront, he could be a player that the Cityzens may look to utilise in a variety of positions should he make the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
