Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly keen on Monza’s Italian midfielder Nicolo Rovella.

Rovella’s performances at Monza have caught the attention of many sides, including the Premier League. The 20-year-old Italian midfielder has played close to 100 first-team games and has all the ingredients to succeed at a top club.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Manchester City are currently keeping a close watch on Monza midfielder Nicolo Rovella.

The fact that Manchester City are keen is a guaranteed estimate of the youngster’s potential. He has been a revelation for the Italian side this season. On a season-long loan at the Brianteo Stadium from Juventus, Rovella is making the most of his opportunity to garner regular senior-level football.

Rovella has made 10 Serie A appearances for Monza this season, boasting more tackles per game on average (1.7) than Manuel Akanji, more interceptions (2) than Rodri (1.2) more chances created (1.4) than Erling Haaland (1.1) and has completed more passes (65.1) than Bernardo Silva (48.2) and Kevin De Bruyne (43.5), so he would improve the City squad.

A defensive midfielder, the Italian’s contract in Turin runs until 2026. Juventus, for their part, have no intention of parting ways with the player, and this could prove to be a huge obstacle in Manchester City’s path.

Elsewhere, Barcelona president had contacted Pep Guardiola over a potential return in 2021 but the Catalan tactician asked for time to mull things over before making a decision.

According to journalist Toni Juan Marti, Barcelona president Joan Laporta made contact with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola over a possible return to Spotify Camp Nou as manager in 2021.

The report states that Guardiola would have considered the possibility of returning to Spotify Camp Nou on one condition: if he won the UEFA Champions League with Manchester City.

Following that, Guardiola decided that the time was not right for him to leave the Etihad and Laporta decided to stick with Koeman, only to replace him with Xavi Hernandez in November 2021.

Guardiola recently signed a new contract with Manchester City, committing his future to the club until 2025.
