Jude Bellingham told to avoid Man City as ‘he probably wouldn’t play’ if Pep Guardiola signed him

Jude Bellingham would be better off avoiding Manchester City as ‘he probably wouldn’t play’ claims former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy.

The 19-year-old has three years remaining on his deal at the Westfalenstadion but has growing interest in his signature after impressing in Germany.

Manchester City and Liverpool are two of a long list of teams interested in signing the England international. Bellingham has already racked up over 100 appearances for Borussia Dortmund despite not turning 20 until next June.

He is arguably the first name on the team sheet for the Bundesliga side following the summer departure of Erling Haaland. The teenager is also set to play a key part for the Three Lions at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Bellingham is strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League. Dortmund would unlikely sanction a January move, with a summer transfer more likely.

Murphy believes the Borussia Dortmund midfielder would be better off avoiding City as ‘he probably wouldn’t play’ due to stiff competition for places.

He said on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan: “The difference is if he went to City, for example, you could argue at the minute that he probably wouldn’t play.”

Real Madrid are also linked with a move for Bellingham. Murphy believes he has the mentality to replace the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, with the Croatian especially in the twilight of his career at the age of 37.

Murphy also says Bellingham has already shown he can adapt to a new league and language. He added: “The fact he went to Dortmund tells me he’s not someone scared of change, or learning a language so Madrid is in the equation.

“Even more so when you look at Modric and Kroos because they’re near the end. You need someone with some serious ‘cojones’ to fill the boots of Luka Modric.

“He’s a different type [of player] but the end product would be similar in terms of making goals and scoring goals. Modric is a creative player and Bellingham is a creator really, he can be destructive with his physicality.”
