Most of the national teams have played two matches, and the knockout stage picture for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is beginning to look clear, and one of the favorites still to come away is Brazil.
Brazil came away with an impressive 2-0 win on Thursday over Serbia thanks to a brace scored by Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison. However, they did lose Neymar Jr. to an ankle injury for the remainder of the group stage fixtures.
Nonetheless, Manchester City star and England international Jack Grealish stated that the Seleção is still the favorite to be the last team standing and lifting the trophy once the tournament ends.
“I think there are lots of brilliant teams, some teams have that one player who’s just unstoppable, but I think Brazil have been one of the most impressive I’ve seen so far,” Grealish told talkSPORT.
“They have so much talent, especially in those attacking areas. I think they’re, if you’re asking me who the biggest threat is, I’d probably say Brazil.”
On Monday, Brazil will play its first game without Neymar as they face off against Switzerland, allowing the team to see if they can finish first in the group without the 30-year-old.
The South American side has the talent to win two games, but it will be interesting to see if they can pull it off, considering there have been plenty of upsets this tournament.
