‘Would be great’, ‘Rather sign him than Bellingham’ – Fans react as report claims Man City are the ‘most realistic’ club to sign 24y/o from Newcastle United

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the Premier League champions are the ‘most realistic’ club to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.

Guimaraes has been a revelation for Newcastle since making the switch from Lyon back in January.

The 24-year-old has completely transformed Eddie Howe’s midfield and been a standout performer at St James’ Park.

The tenacious central-midfielder put in another commanding display against Brentford on Saturday as bagged a brace in the 5-1 win.

With Guimaraes catching the eye during his time on Tyneside, Newcastle fans may fear that he is also gaining admirers from top clubs. And it seems that Pep Guardiola’s side could be one of them.

According to the Daily Mail City are the ‘most realistic’ danger for Newcastle in terms of signing Guimaraes.

The Brazilian certainly fits the bill for what is required of a Guardiola midfielder, mixing tenacity with brilliant technical skill.

But the outlet notes that Newcastle do not have to sell due to the strong financial position of their owners, and will offer Guimaraes a new deal next summer, to fight off any possible interest.

The Brazil international does not currently have a release clause in his deal and did not want one when he signed for the club back in January.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
