Pep Guardiola jokes that he’s done ‘everything except sleep’ with Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola joked on Saturday, following his side’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, that he has done everything with match-winner Kevin de Bruyne “except sleep together” during their time at the club.

De Bruyne fired in a spectacular free-kick in the 1-0 win at the King Power Stadium to send the Citizens top of the table.

It was his third goal in the top-flight this term and his second in a row having found the back of the net in last week’s 3-1 victory over Brighton.

And the 31-year-old has also chipped in with an incredible nine assists – one more than what he achieved last campaign.

Still, Guardiola has claimed that the midfielder has had a below-par season by his standards up until now.

But after his beauty against the Foxes, the Spanish gaffer believes the ex-Chelsea man is finally showing what he is capable of.

He told BT Sport: “He’s back. He was not playing good last games, today he was amazing. He knows it.

“We have had seven seasons together, we have done everything… except sleep together… we have done everything. I know him quite well.

“I want more. I want this Kevin. We need this Kevin. Against Brighton, he scored a fantastic goal but it is not enough.

“He can do goals and assists blind, he can do it naturally, but we need this type of involvement in the game. Involved, involved, involved, and today was the case.”
