‘I’ve never witnessed anything like it’ – Grealish left astouded after ‘not human’ Haaland continued incredible form with brace

Erling Haaland only needed 45 minutes to add two more goals to a remarkable start to his Manchester City career as the English giants thrashed FC Copenhagen 5-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

His monstrous start to life at Manchester City left FC Copenhagen goalkeeper Kamil Grabara questioning whether the striker is human.

Haaland turned in Joao Cancelo’s low cross for the opening goal of the game, before he bundled in a rebound for his second after away goalkeeper Kamil Grabara had spilled Bernardo Silva’s long-range volley.

Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Grealish – who put in another impressive display on the left wing as named the Player of the Match – admitted that what his teammate is doing is truly remarkable.

‘It’s unbelievable – honestly,’ Grealish said. ‘I’ve never witnessed anything like it in my life. For the first and second goals I was just laughing. He is always there.

‘Their keeper said something to me as I was walking back. He said, “he’s not human!” I said: “You’re telling me!” Hopefully he can carry on this form and take us to glory.’

Grealish played the full 90 minutes against Copenhagen but failed to register a goal or an assists. The ex-Aston Villa winger has only bagged one goal this campaign and is yet to create one. But he insists he is enjoying his football this season as his side are winning matches, and believes he has recaptured his best form in recent weeks.

‘My last three or four games I feel back to myself,’ he added. ‘I am playing more with that freedom and confidence. It would help if I got on the scoresheet, I was desperate, but it’s all about enjoying it.

‘I’ve played a lot of games recently so I’m thankful to the manager for that. I’m playing with a smile on my face and feel like I’m settling in now.’
